The printer won't print: what you can check

The letter has to go out and the printer does nothing. That annoys everyone. The cause is usually small. Go through this list from top to bottom.

Check these first

1. Is the printer switched on?
2. Is there paper in it, and is no sheet stuck?
3. Does the printer show a message or is a light flashing?
4. Is there still ink or toner?
5. Are the cables plugged in firmly?

Then this often helps

1. Switch the printer off and wait a minute.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Switch the printer on again and print a short page.

Still nothing?

• Look in the print window to see whether your printer is really selected.
• Delete old jobs stuck in the queue.
• If your printer has no cable, check that it is still connected to your home network.

Does the page come out blank or streaky?

Then the nozzles have often dried up or the ink has run out. Many printers have a cleaning program in the menu for this.
