Many computers still run Windows 10. Microsoft ended normal support on 14 October 2025. No need to panic: your computer keeps working. But without security updates it becomes more vulnerable to malicious software.
What are your options?
- Move to Windows 11: free if your computer is suitable. You can see this in Settings under Windows Update.
- Extended security updates: Microsoft offers these to home users until 12 October 2027. The computer has to be enrolled for this.
- A new computer, if your current one is too old.
Before any change
Back up your photos and documents. Always, even if everything looks fine.
Beware of fake warnings
Scammers exploit worries about Windows. Do not call any number that appears on the screen. See also our article on fake technicians.
