Many people use one single password for everything. That is convenient but dangerous: if it is stolen once, all the doors are open.
How to make a good password
- Long is better than complicated. Use several words in a row.
- Do not use your grandchildren's names or dates of birth.
- Use a different password for each service, above all for your email.
Five or six words that have nothing to do with each other are easier to remember than a wild jumble of characters. Think up your own words.
Where should I keep my passwords?
A notebook is perfectly fine if it is well hidden at home. Do not write "Passwords" on it and do not leave it next to the computer. Another option is a password program. We can set that up for you if you like.
Who can I give my password to?
Nobody on the phone and nobody by message. Banks and public authorities do not ask for it.
RememberYour email password is the most important one. Give it its own.
