Storage full: what to do

Your phone says: storage full. You can't take photos and everything gets slow. Nothing is broken. The phone just needs room.

Before you delete anything

Back up your photos first. The article "Keeping photos safe" explains how. What has been deleted often does not come back.

What takes up the most room

• Photos and videos, especially long videos
• Pictures and videos arriving in WhatsApp
• Apps you never use

How to make room

1. Look under "Storage" in Settings. It shows you what is taking up the room.
2. Delete duplicate photos and old videos.
3. Remove apps you don't need.
4. Then empty the bin in your photo app.

The last step is worth a look: many photo apps keep deleted pictures for a while. Only then is the room really free.
