Fake emails often look very good today. They have a real logo and hardly any mistakes. Experts call this phishing. A few simple questions will still help you.
Ask yourself these questions
- Am I expecting this email at all?
- Am I being told to do or pay something quickly?
- Am I being asked to enter details?
- Does the sender's address really match the company?
- Is there an attachment I do not recognise?
How to stay safe
- Do not tap links in the email.
- Do not open attachments you are not expecting.
- Go to the company's website yourself, or call them.
- Delete the email if it is fake.
You can also report suspicious emails. In Luxembourg, SPAMBEE accepts reports of spam and phishing. This works with an add-on on your computer, not on a phone or tablet. Ask us how to do it.
